Individual Baked Eggs recipe

Bacon wrapped eggs
I had some time in the morning, so I cooked myself a breakfast of Individual Baked Eggs.
I used a recipe from the AllRecipes magazine but it can also be found online.
It was pretty simple to make but next time I make them, I won’t add the bacon grease to the muffin pan. It was greasy enough.
Recipe I used

Ingredients:

  • 6 strips of bacon
  • 6 eggs
  • Cheddar Cheese

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Cook bacon
  3. Wrap bacon slice around the inside of a muffin cup.
  4. Place a little bacon grease in the bottom of muffin cup.
  5. Drop in egg.
  6. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Place a little cheddar cheese over egg after about 10-12 minutes
  8. Continue cooking until cheese is melted and egg is cooked.

Wrap bacon around muffin tin and add an egg inside
I cooked my bacon in the oven at 350 for 12 minutes

Good Makery’s One Last Memory Before School Email

I’ve been helping Good Makery  with their digital marketing and back in August I wrote this blog post and designed in MailChimp this cute email that went out to all of the email subscribers. I’m proud of the playful image, on-brand color scheme, and the educational content of the blog. Before writing this, I didn’t know what a Schultüte was but it’s actually a really neat tradition.

Make one last memory before school!

How to relieve your child’s back to school jitters

In some European countries, parents give their child a Schultüte (pronounced shool-too-tuh) meaning “school cone” in German. It is filled with candy and school supplies and is meant to sooth the child’s nerves.

At Good Makery we model our packaging after this darling tradition.

You can make one last summer memory with your child by bringing them in to make a gift for themselves, such as a personalized “Good Luck Charm” for back to school or magnet to hang up their “A+” papers.

Pet Wellness Veterinary Clinic images

I help Pet Wellness Veterinary Clinic with their digital marketing and wanted to share these images I made for them:
Friday, we posted this on Facebook to let our followers know we don’t have any clinics this weekend. People seemed to like it more than just a sentence saying “No clinics this weekend.”

This is an infographic I made to help educate clients about what vaccinations their dog needs.

We are going to share this on Facebook to promote our next clinic.

Instagram posts

Recently, I’ve been helping a local Grandview small business called Good Makery with their marketing and I wanted to share two Instagram posts that I helped make.

Celebrating Grandparent’s Day

Leslie helped find this cute picture of a little boy with ice cream and I added the text using Canva.

Sharing new charity collaboration

I made this image also using Canva and wrote the copy.

Apple Pie Bites

Apple Pie Crescent Roll Bites
I hosted a small house warming party on Friday night and I wanted to make a fun snack so of course, I looked on Pinterest for some ideas. I found these apple pie bites and thought that would be a good way to use the apples I’d bought from the farmer’s market.
I used recipes from both Cakes Cottage and The Blond Cook to make my own apple pie bites.
Apple Pie Bites
Yields 8
Ingredients
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • ⅓ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, cored and sliced into small slices
  • 1 (8-ounce) can of crescent rolls
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 375°F.
  2. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Unwrap the crescent roll and separate the triangles.
  4. Melt butter and toss apple slices in butter.
  5. Sprinkle each triangle with brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle with the walnuts,
  6. Cut  the apple into 8 equal slices.
  7. Place a piece of apple on each triangle of dough and roll it in a croissant.
  8. Arrange crescent rolls on a cookie sheet.
  9. Spread the remaining butter on each crescent roll and sprinkle with additional sugar and cinnamon.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden.
Apple + Brown Sugar + Walnuts + Crescent Roll

If I were to make this snack again, I’d use smaller apple slices. I thought my slices were a bit too big to fit inside the crescent roll. I also might’ve doubled the recipe so it would make 16 and not 8.

Pokemon Go Tips

Play at different times of the day to see new Pokemon

Here’s some tips I want to share for those who are playing Pokemon Go:

  • Set a goal when you start playing.
    • I go out “playing” for 30min to an hour usually at a park somewhere and I set a goal for myself. Usually the goal is like “Level Up,” ‘Don’t waste more than 3 Pokeballs on a Pokemon I already have,” “Find a new Pokemon,” or “Find 20 Pokeballs.”
    • This helps me feel accomplished after I play and makes me feel like I’m a winner.
  • Vary your playing
    • Go to different places. I’m a fan of walking around the Metro Parks and playing there.
    • Play at different times of the day. Some Pokemon are much more common at nighttime. I caught some of my favorites around 9 or 10pm.
  • Don’t waste a lot of Pokeballs on one Pokemon.
    • The more you play and the more you advance, you’ll notice that suddenly it’s harder to catch Pokemon. They break free more often, they run away, and just avoid being captured. I like to limit myself to a set number of Pokeballs for each Pokemon so I don’t run out of balls too quickly.
  • Having trouble catching a Pokemon? Run away and then come back.
    • For whatever reason, this seems to make the Pokemon easier to catch. For example: I’ve wasted 4 Pokeballs, ran away, found the Pokemon, and caught him with one ball.
    • Caution: By running away, you run the risk of not finding that Pokemon again.
  • It’s okay to discard items.
    • I learned this when I ran out of Pokeballs but had 50+ Potions and Revives. It’s not the end of the world to discard some of those. You’ll easily find more at other Pokestops.
  • Move around a lot in battles.
    • I like to doge attacks a lot and found it to be helpful.
  • Transfer Pokemon that have low CP.
    • This will give you more space to collect other Pokemon.
    • You get one candy for each transfer
  • Save your evolving for when you have a Lucky Egg.
    • Evolving gets you a lot of XP so you might as well take advantage of the double XP the Lucky Egg gives you.
  • Turn off AR to easily catch Pokemon.
    • I admit this does take some of the fun out of the game but it helps make catching a lot easier. They don’t move around as much and it’s easier to aim.
  • Choose your Evee evolution.
    • If you rename your Evee “Pyro,” it will evolve into a Flareon, if you want a Vaporeon, nickname the Eevee “Rainer” and for the players who want a Jolteon, they can name their Eevee “Sparky”.
    • I tried this by renaming my Evee Pyro and it worked for me and that was my third Evee evolution.

Fun With Filters

I wrote this blog post for The Longaberger Company’s blog.
You can view the original here.
Filters are what separate Instagram from your regular phone camera. Instead of editing each photo’s brightness and saturation, you can choose from pre-made filters that can transform your selfie into a photograph that even Robert Mapplethorpe would be jealous of.
It seems like there are 31 different filter flavors, but Instagram actually only has 19 filters to choose from. It’s easy to slide through and preview what your photo will look like with different filters.
I wanted to illuminate a few of my favorite filters and how they can best be used in your epic cell phone photography adventures.
I chose this example image to illustrate how filters can improve any pic.
Rise: This filter gives your pictures a golden glow like a rising sun. (The names of the filters aren’t just coincidental) Its soft light can be great for improving the appearance of skin in close-ups aka selfies.
Valencia: To give images a nice faded quality, this is what you want to use. It washes out some but not all the color by increasing the exposure. It’s great for making photos look more antique-y, bringing out delicate colors especially for beach pics.
The Valenica filter makes pics look like antique photos
Sierra: If you were daydreaming with your camera, this is what it’d look like. It has a cloudy quality that makes it gorgeous for landscapes. You can skip the trip to the spa and just shoot a calming pic with Sierra.
Earlybird: The earlybird catches the filter. Picture a western cowboy standing in a ghost town and that’s what Earlybird gives you. It has an old-fashioned quality with its red and golden colors. It’s one of the most flattering Instagram filters, according to The Huffington Post. No need to get a tan because it gives your skin an instant bronzer.
Sutro: This one can add a spooky gothic quality to your pictures, making it good for Halloween. It adds smokiness to your images by making the highlights and shadows more dramatic. Purple is my favorite color in the universe so I love that Sutro increases the purples in a picture.
The Sutro filter makes pics spookier
Inkwell: One of only two black and white filters, Inkwell plays with lights and shadows very artistically. This is my favorite black and white filter (sorry Willow! Nothing personal) because of how it takes the attention back to the subject of the photo. That’s what good black and white photography ought to always do.
Walden: No longer will you wonder what Henry David Thoreau’s fav Instagram filter was. This filter gives photos a pleasant light, making it ideal for photographing young children. It increases the pic’s exposure and adds a subtle sense of being washed out. It’s an Instagram classic!
Henry David Thoreau’s fav filter
Hefe: Hefe gives you high saturation and high contrast which makes for vibrant yet warm photos. It’s great for photos with lots of colors and can be used both indoors and outdoors. If you’re lucky enough to live near mountains, Hefe is your go-to filter (think of it as your new little black dress but on Instagram.)
Hopefully you learned a thing or two about Instagram’s various filters. I leave you with one final potentially mind-blowing challenge: Take a picture of a coffee filter using an Instagram filter.

How to do Newspaper Nails

Newspaper nails are really easy, last a long time and a unique way to paint your nails. They are all the rage on Pinterest right now and you’re guaranteed to get compliments. They are one of my favorite ways to paint my nails because of how cool they look and how long they last.
You will need:
Rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl Alcohol)
Clear base coat
White nail polish
Newspaper or Magazine
Bowl
Clear top Coat
Rubbing alcohol, white nail polish, clear nail polish and a bowl.
Step 1: Paint your nails with a clear base coat to protect your nails. Let dry.

The base coat protects your nails from discoloring
Step 2: Paint on two coats of white nail polish.
Two coats of white nail polish
Step 3: Cut out some newspaper text or pictures you want. Keep them small.
Step 4: Pour rubbing alcohol into bowl
Step 5: Let the newspaper piece soak for about a minute
Step 6: Carefully put the newspaper onto your nail
Press paper onto nail for 15+ seconds.
Step 7: Press firmly on the newspaper for at least 15 seconds. Make sure all sides of the paper transfer to the nail. Be patient.

I used both text and pictures from the newspaper
Step 8: Repeat for your other nails
Step 9: Apply a top coat
Step 10: Show your friends and receive compliments.

These lasted two weeks on my nails
Tips:
Be patient! I didn’t wait until the white nail polish was 100% dry and so it didn’t work out.
Leave the newspaper on longer than 15seconds until it fully transfers
