Starbucks Grande Carmel Espresso Granita |
I tried a Starbucks Caramel Espresso Granita this afternoon and wanted to share my thoughts about it.
Whenever Starbucks gets a new drink, it’s very exciting and I feel compelled to try it.
It’s interesting that you can only get the new granita and trifles after 3 p.m.. I can only assume that’s an attempt to boost afternoon and evening traffic.
I treated myself in the morning to a Caramel Machiatto, so my Granita was only $3. I suppose that deal is this summer’s “Treat Receipt” from Starbucks.
My first sip of the drink was so strongly coffee flavored. It reminded me of a bold cup of coffee, like when someone doesn’t use the right ratio of coffee grounds to water.
As I continued drinking it, the bitter and bold coffee flavor was more subtle.
It became similar to a coffee frappucino.
The texture of the drink is in between a Frappucino and an iced drink. It’s kind of like drinking a snow cone.
As I kept drinking it, the flavor switched from bold coffee to more sugary caramel flavor.
I wouldn’t order the Caramel Espresso Granita again because of the jarring strong coffee flavor and the unusual snow cone like texture.
I’ll stick with an iced peppermint latte.
