Celebrating the behind-the-scenes workers

Dear Denison employees,

By noon on Wednesday, most major walkways around campus were cleared of snow and ice. This was due to your hard work and dedication. I could see you guys out all day plowing, shoveling and salting pathways. Your efforts made it feasible and safe to travel around campus. I don’t know what we would do without the hard work of Denison’s ground crews. While it might not be a glamourous job, it is an important one and it should not be a thankless job.

I also want to say thank you to the janitorial staff at Denison. I see them in the academic buildings and library late at night, cleaning the classrooms and bathrooms we use everyday. If you ever see one of them, don’t be afraid to tell them a sincere “thank you.” It’s a simple act that shows we appreciate them. I suspect the most common interaction they have with students is by seeing and cleaning our leftover trash. So let’s show them that we actually aren’t spoiled rich kids and that we appreciate what they do for our community.

Thank you for all that you do,

Debbie
